World Prep’s® Personal Evacuation Kit™ Featured on “Good Morning America”
TOLEDO, OHIO – World Prep® Inc., a manufacturer of Emergency Resource Equipment
and the Personal Evacuation Kit™ (PEK) were recently featured on “Good Morning
America.”
Dr. Irwin Redlener, director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at
Columbia University and a leading expert in crisis response, used World Prep’s Personal
Evacuation Kit™ as a prime example of the type of emergency resource tool every
household should possess in the case of an emergency. In an interview with GMA’s
Robin Roberts, Dr. Redlener, the author of the bestselling “Americans at Risk: Why We
Are Not Prepared for Megadisasters and What We Can Do.” sighted the lack of
response from local, state and the federal government in situations like Hurricane
Katrina as a prime example of why individual families should keep kits like the PEK on hand.
The Personal Evacuation Kit™ is designed in a high visibility fabric, with a reflective
stripe and can easily fit in a desk or kitchen drawer, a bedroom closet or the trunk of a
car. The PEK contains 40 items in a compartmentalized case.
The PEK contains such emergency items as: 1 Heavy Duty Aluminum Flashlight, 2
Packages of Purified Drinking Water, a 12 hour Chemical Light Stick, 1 High Intensity
Whistle (the world’s loudest),1 N-95 Respirator and a 33-piece first aid kit.
The natural disasters of Hurricane Katrina and the tsunami in Indonesia have brought to
light the need for individuals to be better prepared should an emergency strike. First
responders will often be the victims themselves who must find a way to survive through
grueling conditions while waiting for help to arrive.
World Prep® offers a diverse and unique group of emergency resource products. Our
Safety Kits are designed to provide emergency preparedness to persons who are
affected by any type of natural and man-made disasters.
World Prep® Inc. was created by Dave Krueger in 1999 to help ensure emergency
preparedness at home, at work and at play. As a former police officer, he has over
thirteen years of law enforcement and search and rescue experience, and has seen the
effects of being caught off guard in a natural disaster. World Prep Inc. manufactures and
sells safety and preparedness kits in a variety of markets.

World Prep® Provides Emergency Response Kits to Aid Tsunami Victims
World Prep®, Inc, Toledo, Ohio manufacturer of emergency resource equipment, knows the
importance of being prepared. Since 1999, World Prep® has been providing people in need with their
Personal Comfort Kits™ and Personal Evacuation Kits™. World Prep® has also partnered with the USO
(United Services Organization) and is and has provided thousands of the Personal Comfort Kits for our
troops who are stationed overseas.
Now, World Prep® has teamed up with relief agencies, such as ISOH (International Services of Hope,
www.isohimpact.org) by introducing the Personal Comfort Kit (Red)™. Hundreds of thousands of
victims will and have been displaced to relief shelters by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Asia.
The Personal Comfort Kit (PCK) is an ideal product for these individuals. The PCK can be provided to
the relief teams offering comfort and support to the people affected by this tragedy. By providing
much-needed hygiene items in an easy-to-carry pack, the PCK and World Prep® will prove to be a
valuable support service for the agencies involved in helping these victims. Highly affordable, the PCK
can be purchased at a discounted price to assist those agencies involved in the disaster relief.
The Personal Comfort Kit (Red)™ is a compact, convenient carrying case made of a durable nylon
fabric. Some items in the kit include shampoo and body bath, deodorant, disposable razors and a
toothbrush and toothpaste. This kit can help provide disaster victims with a feeling of comfort and
well-being by giving them the ability to care for themselves.
As thousands, if not millions, will be displaced from their homes because of this disaster, there is/will
be a great need for hygiene products to assist these persons. Also, because of the possible increase of
disease in the aftermath of the tsunami, basic hygiene will be essential to reduce the number of
persons who become ill or die from these diseases. Having the personal Comfort Kit will assist in
managing this growing need.

Backpacks Prepared For Wounded Warriors
TOLEDO, OHIO – The United Spinal Association’s Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) will be present when the first 100 of their 1000 WWP backpacks roll off the assembly line at World Prep® Inc., 7944-9W. Central Avenue, at 11am on Thursday, March 25, 2004. The backpacks, which contain comfort items such as toiletries and other personal goods, will be distributed in the weeks following to wounded soldiers who have returned from current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan and are recovering at Walter Reed Army Hospital and other medical facilities. The WWP is a program of VetsFirst, a division of the United Spinal Association, a veteran service and disability rights organization that seeks to assist those men and women of our armed forces who have been severely injured during military conflicts around the world.
“We are extremely excited to add World Prep® Inc. and its president Dave Krueger to our list of Wounded Warrior Project Partners,” said WWP Program Manager John Melia, who will be at the Thursday event. “World Prep® is a shining example of how American businesses can make a difference in helping our wounded service members rehabilitate from their injuries. We cannot restore the lost limbs, but together we can honor them by ensuring they are not forgotten.”
“As a former Police Officer, who was injured twice in the line of duty, I understand the challenges associated with rehabilitation and the importance of knowing that there are people who care. That is why I am so honored that World Prep® can be a part of this project,” said Mr. Krueger, a former Ohio State Marine Patrol Officer, created World Prep® Inc. in 1999. The company, whose mission statement is meeting people’s needs in their time of need, offers a complete line of emergency response kits filled with practical safety and comfort items to assist people during building evacuations, natural disasters, or while traveling. Recently, Mr. Krueger has filled orders for soldiers in Iraq, who are requesting the Comfort Kit, the same item included in the WWP backpack. Due to the heightened consciousness of emergency preparedness, World Prep® has seen a substantial increase in its business, and will be moving to al larger facility around the corner from where they are now located.
Among the various free services the WWP provides assistance to veterans attempting to obtain benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. The program also helps the families of veterans with nearby lodging, so that they can visit their loved ones while they are recovering. “With the Wounded Warrior Project, we saw a great opportunity to share United Spinal’s 57 years of expertise in veterans advocacy with a new generation of vets trying to readjust to civilian life,” said Melia, a Marine Corps veteran. The public can support the WWP and even sponsor a backpack by visiting www.vetsfirst.org.
United Spinal Association, formerly the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with spinal cord injury or disease by assuring quality healthcare, promoting research, advocating for civil rights and independence, educating the public about these issues and enlisting their help to achieve these fundamental goals. New Operation USO Care Packages arrive for the holidays!
Washington, D.C. – The USO has contracted with World Prep®, a Toledo OH-based developer of emergency preparedness kits, to produce signature “comfort kits” for use as the base for its Operation USO Care Package program. Each kit contains personal care items arranged in a desert camo nylon pouch and is lightweight and compact enough to fit in the side pocket of the service member’s BDUs. Completed USO Care Packages contain an assortment of items that our military has specifically requested, such as prepaid international calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries, and sunscreen. Packages also include greetings from the American public, transcribed onto official “Operation USO Care Package” post cards by volunteers and USO staff members. Through partnerships with USOs across the world and the support of the American public, the USO expects to distribute another 200,000 in the coming months.
“We are proud to work with World Prep® on this very important project,” said Elaine Rogers, USO-Metro president and worldwide administrator for Operation USO Care Package. “Supporting our brave men and women fighting the war on terrorism is now more crucial than ever before. The USO Care Package will let our nation’s defenders know we appreciate them.”
The USO has distributed nearly 200,000 USO Care Packages to members of the Armed Forces actively engaged in Operation Iraqi Freedom and the fight against terrorism.
